Well, with the weather cooperating as it has been these last few weeks in Portland, I have really been able to acquaint myself with quite a few different parts of the city. The Hollywood district is located in the NE neighborhood only a few miles from where I live. Here you will find a variety of different restaurants and shops and this fantastic little theater called Hollywood Theater. The architecture on the front of the building takes your breathe away... and the inside is full of surprises, too. They show old and new films at reasonable prices and sell wine, beer and cider. What more could you ask for? I also found one of the biggest fish stores I have ever been to in my life. Thousands of fish live here in hundreds of different tanks... and you just can't help but laugh at the name: The Wet Spot.
Some more exploring of downtown Portland on the 23rd street area of NW Portland revealed some of these incredible old homes and a beautiful Reformed Jewish synagogue of Congregation Beth Israel.
