Hey Guys! I get to share this sweet, adorable family with you on the blog today! I am so excited to put these photos in front of your eyeballs for a number of reasons:
1) This family is SO CUTE. It'll be so obvious how much they love each other as you scroll down.
2) They won this mini session MONTHS ago at the yearly auction for the Bridgeway Christian Academy that I am lucky enough to participate in. We've rescheduled time and time again because, well, life happens. SO, this session has been a long time coming and this was an EPIC day to play at Larrabee Park.
3) Lastly, because I got to try something different for the shoot. Something I have been begging myself to embrace and implement for a long time. This year I promised myself I would work HARD on finding, cultivating and capturing natural moments in ALL of my work. I think every photographer strives for this, but wanting it and DOING it are so very different. It's easy to get caught up in what people 'expect' from you as a photographer and to lose sight of what you want your work to embody. I want to catch those silly giggles, funny faces, genuine actions and heartfelt looks. I want the little encouraging back pats, the butt grabs, the cheek smooches, the anxious hair twirls. I want to hear the excited whispers repeat themselves back to me in my images. You have to be ready to snatch these little details as they are unfolding, in that millisecond of time, before they're gone forever. These are the things we all care most about and this year I will find them.
This lovely family gave me the perfect opportunity to put this to the test. What could be better than the beach, some rock skipping and three boys full of life!?
