Most every client I speak with before their session tells me they are interested in mostly candid photos and not very much posed work. This goes for weddings, family sessions, newborn, engagement and anniversary sessions. I mean, who doesn’t love a great shot of yourself really caught up in the moment? These images of interaction show real, authentic moments and that’s what everyone wants to hang on their wall, put on their Christmas cards and share online, right?
Well, truth be told, I think we’ve got you fooled! I’ve dug up a random sampling of all kinds of sessions that I offer that you can find below. The truth is, every single one of the images below started as a posed situation. A good photographer knows how to find the right light, frame a shot, pose the clients in the most natural and flattering way for that situation and then give them a slight bit of direction to really take their mind off the camera and keep them in the moment. It’s something that comes with time a lot of time and practice. There is certainly a time and a place for those posed shots, but for those of you out there that are looking for something a little bit more authentic and real- keep this in mind! As your photographer I want to capture both the giant grins while you look right at my camera and the silly, fun moments when I can get you to play and interact.
