Hi, I’m Katy

… and I can’t wait to get to know you.

I’m based in beautiful Bellingham and frequently travel from Seattle to Portland and beyond to work with wonderful people and businesses throughout the Pacific Northwest. Since 2010, I’ve had the incredible privilege of building a career around storytelling, connection, and creating images that help people feel seen.

My work blends colorful, natural imagery with genuine connection and storytelling-focused moments. Whether I’m photographing a wedding day, helping a small business elevate their brand, or documenting a growing family, my goal is always the same: to create photographs that feel joyful, honest, and deeply personal.

When I’m not behind the lens, you can usually find me scheming up my next trip abroad, antiquing with my husband, skiing Mount Baker, swimming in Lake Whatcom, or giggling with friends over a fresh glass of rosé.

Why I Love Being a Bellingham Photographer

Over the years, I’ve had the joy of photographing weddings, engagements, families, maternity sessions, branding photography, headshots, food photography, interiors, and creative commercial projects throughout Bellingham, Seattle, Whatcom County, and the greater Pacific Northwest.

I truly love working with people and creating colorful, unique images that reflect who they are and what matters most to them. Whether you’re celebrating a huge milestone, growing your business, or simply wanting to freeze this season of life for a little longer, I can’t wait to create something meaningful with you.

No two sessions are ever the same, which is one of my favorite parts of this work. Every project brings new stories, personalities, ideas, and moments, and I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days documenting them.

A People-First Approach to Photography

Before becoming a full-time photographer, I spent seven years teaching preschool and studied Human Services and Psychology at Western Washington University. Those experiences continue to shape the way I work today and taught me the importance of patience, empathy, flexibility, and genuine human connection.

Community involvement has also always been incredibly important to me. Over the years, I’ve volunteered with organizations including Headstart, DVSAS (Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services), and the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center. I also love supporting local nonprofits and still donate my time and photography services whenever I can.

At the end of the day, photography has always been about people for me. I want every person who steps in front of my camera to feel comfortable, cared for, celebrated, and fully themselves throughout the experience.

What It’s Like to Work Together

You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about being “good” in front of the camera. Most of my clients tell me they feel nervous at first, and then end up having way more fun than they expected once we get started.

My approach is relaxed, collaborative, and naturally guided. I’ll help with posing, timelines, shot lists, location ideas, and all the little details while still leaving space for genuine moments to unfold naturally. The customer experience is incredibly important to me, and I work hard to make our time together feel easy, fun, and stress-free.

You can always expect me to be professional, prepared, flexible, creative, and fully committed to bringing your vision to life. My hope is that your images won’t just look beautiful, but that they’ll catapult you right back into that moment every time you see them.
