This sweet little coffee shop is a wonderful addition to the Cordata neighborhood! Located near Whatcom Community College, Maple Bar offers everything from coffee and energy drinks to donuts and gluten free items! The space has a fun, colorful, up-beat, retro kind of vibe and boasts the perfect spot to meet a friend, pop in for a snack with your kiddos, or study away the afternoon. I was so excited to work with this team- I fell right in love with their bright, colorful space!
The Maple Bar is a brand new business here in town, so they brought me in specifically to help create content for their website and help enhance their brand through authentic lifestyle photography. Knowing that these would be the first images to represent their new business, it was important that I understood their target audience, overall branding colors and business messaging.
We worked together to create a timeline and shot list that included a variety of different kinds of content that would help tell their story including photos of the space, styled shots of the food and drink offerings and lifestyle photography of the space being used. I advised them in finding people we could utilize as models that would help to portray their target audience. Thanks to their “Whatcom Wednesdays” and their proximity to Whatcom Community College, we knew that college students were a major demographic for their shop.
Onsite that day I wanted to be sure that the photography reflected the bright, vibrant, colorful space, so I included flash in about 75% of the photography you see here to ensure the colors popped. We began with lifestyle photos of our “student models” in the space. I have extensive experience in creating engaging scenes and directing models and this group was a ton of fun. From there, we moved into photos of the food and beverages alone, then mixing those items in with some more lifestyle shots featuring model hands and finally wrapped up our session with lifestyle photos of the staff behind the counter making coffee, mixing energy drinks and checking customers out.
This coffee shop has been able to utilize these images not only on their website, but throughout their social media feeds and digital marketing campaigns!
