Alllll the microgreens in the studio this month thanks to Grace Harbor Farms! These green little beauties were a ton of fun to work with. Many of these varieties of micro greens were new to me, so I loved the chance to try them out and found a new favorite: carrot!
The Challenge:
As you would expect, working with microgreens is tricky simply because of the size. In order to be sure that each individual type of microgreen could be easily distinguished from one another, I was sure to get plenty of macro shots of each variety. This meant being sure that I had enough light to zoom in nice and tight on the little details for the hero shots of each type!
The Project:
This project highlighted either different kinds of microgreens. We needed to get shots of each variety alone on a white backdrop and then we moved into minimal styling with each product open and still including packaging. Once this was complete, I piled microgreens on the background for those macro shots, ensuring good styling and attention to detail so that the important differences of each variety could be highlighted. Once this was complete, I moved into a few simple recipes showing the greens in action as a hero of various dishes! I worked with my flash to the left, incorporating some natural light and white bounce cards.
The Takeaway:
This project took a total of 3 hours and the client ended up with 159 total images to use on their website, social media, marketing materials and more. The client was thrilled with the results, leaving a five star review online: “Very happy with the photos and service we received. You get what you pay for! A+”
