Katie’s lifestyle headshot and branding session was so much fun. I love being in other creative’s space and getting a glimpse into their world! Katie specializes in lively acrylic paintings inspired by the natural world and I really enjoyed learning more about her process. Be sure to check out her site to see some of her current pieces!
Katie reached out about my lifestyle headshot packages because she wanted to show off herself in an authentic way in her own space. During our pre-session connection call she shared with me her hopes for the session. She wanted to highlight the different tools she uses when creating her work, share some of her inspiration and love for color and to be able to use these images on her website. From there, I put together some suggestions in props, attire and a thoughtful timeline that would give us the best results.
Onsite that day I began by setting up my off camera flash to help with fill light since the window is placed directly behind her in many of these shots. Plus, I wanted to be sure I could capture the true colors of her beautiful work. Then we moved right into some semi-posed shots of her in her space, on her painting chair, holding her tools and mixed in some less guided, lifestyle photos of her really painting and using the different brushes and mediums around her. Ultimately, she ended up with a collection of images for her website and even a few images perfect for social media!
