Bry’s Filipino Cuisine was a well established and hugely popular food truck in Bellingham for many years. The community was absolutely thrilled to hear that he was opening a restaurant location right downtown to increase his offerings even more. The new space does not disappoint! The bright, inviting interior gives you a warm hug as you walk in, the bar menu is full of creative cocktails and colorful mocktails and the food is absolutely delicious. I am SO excited to have this new spot in town to enjoy!
The Project
We wanted to pair the bright, unique interior of this restaurant with the colorful, exciting food and drinks they offer. Instead of your typical lifestyle shots, I brought in backgrounds that corresponded with the colors they used in the interior design. These tied together the space and the menu and gave each drink or dish an extra little punch of contrast. Chef wanted to highlight some of the most popular dishes and to bring in a few of their new offerings, too. Their head bartender was whipping up beautiful cocktails and mocktails between dishes so we could keep the timeline moving and we were able to achieve a lot in a short amount of time.
The Challenge
The biggest challenge in any restaurant is finding the right time to do the session without having to close the space! This restaurant is unique in that it has a split level which was perfect for our needs. I was able to take over the entire upstairs with my gear, lighting and a table full of food and drinks while customers enjoyed their food and experience uninterrupted downstairs!
The Takeaway
Our session was quick at just 90 minutes and we were able to photograph 11 different dishes and 8 different drinks including 2-3 different angles and macro shots for each item. We even had time to bring in some group and full table shots which are great for socials, headers, advertising and so much more. They ended up with a final collection of 106 beautiful, cohesive images. Feast your eyes below!
