Jess and I have been working together for years and when she reached out about photography for the rebrand of her luxury hair extension business, I couldn’t wait to start planning. Jess is a premier hair extension specialist, known for her expertise in creating stunning hair transformations. She is passionate about her job, making her clients feel incredible and tailoring her services to each client’s unique style and custom needs. The best part, though? Jess has the brightest, kindest personality. I wanted to be sure that her branding session highlighted her fun, playful vibes as well as her driven, professional side.
All of my branding photography sessions include a strategy session. So, Jess and I hopped on a call in our pajamas (that set-your-own-schedule life is the best) and chattered away about her goals, vision, the specific shot list she had in mind, the different outfits we wanted to incorporate and how she planned to use the images. Not every client walks in with a specific shot list ready to go, but knowing how you intend to use the images helps set us up for success and ensures you’ll be able to get the most out of your business photos. I knew she planned to use the images on her website and social media and that left and right justified shots would be smart to mix in to her collection, giving her space to add text and captions as she wished over time.
Once we had a game plan, we excitedly awaited shoot day. We chatted away, creating a friendly and comfortable space as I set up my lighting gear and made any necessary adjustments to the space. Then, we started making magic. Our shot list included posed and lifestyle headshots, candid shots of her interacting with clients, shots of the salon space itself and more lifestyle photography outside her salon, including the always fun champagne popping! It’s been wonderful to watch Jess use the images to grow her business and connect with her target clients.
