Backyard weddings are some of my favorite events to photograph. They’re so personalized and unique and often have all the special touches only family and friends can provide. Hanna and Nick got married on their family property in Point Roberts, WA. Point Roberts is a pene-exclave of Washington on the southernmost tip of the Tsawwassen peninsula. To get here you can either cross the Canadian border and drive about 25 miles back into the US, or go by plane or boat! I was lucky enough to take San Juan Air for a very short flight from the Bellingham Airport to a small airstrip in Point Roberts cutting my travel time way down. Plus, it was SO fun to travel this way!
Once landing in Point Roberts and being picked up by the father of the bride, we made our way out to one of their favorite beaches on the island for a first look and couple’s portraits with their furbaby! We spent some time wandering around in the sunshine before heading back to the property to wrap up some couple’s portraits before the ceremony. The ceremony was so sweet. Guests took a winding path through the woods sprinkled with lush greenery and even a few surprise fairy houses before reaching an opening in the woods. The reception took place in the backyard, included yard games, finger foods, Dance Dance Revolution, speeches in their living room, a seated + homemade lasagna feast and cakes from Pure Bliss. Complete perfection.
