People are always asking me what I like to bring with me when I travel with my gear and the truth is, I try to keep it pretty simple if I am traveling for personal reasons, like this trip to San Diego or Penticton. Typically I will just bring along my single Canon Mark IV and my 24-70 F4 Macro Lens stuffed with memory cards. Oftentimes I will end up leaving the camera behind on personal trips in favor if my small and mighty iPhone, but more times than not I deeply regret doing that. SO, I have spent a lot of time finding travel items that work for me – particularly a backpack! For years I have been using this Lowepro Photo Hatchback and absolutely love it. It’s lightweight, has a quick rain jacket that stays stored away inside the bottom of the pack until you need it, has all the pockets I am looking for and a secure place for my camera that opens from the back of the bag, keeping it out of sight. It’s great for any situation and I can’t recommend it enough!
When I’m traveling for work, though, like this gorgeous wedding in Austria, I need to have a place for my laptop and a little bit more gear. I found this PRVKE Lite backpack from WANDRD and am loving it just as much. It’s got a sleeve for my 13″ Macbook Air, room in the back for a body and 2-3 lenses, has a water bottle holder and essential pockets, is water resistant and has an awesome roll-down top that perfect for stuffing snacks, a sweater, sunglasses, wallet and other essentials.
I still bring along my 24-70 F4 lens, but if I have the room I love to bring along my 100mm F2.8 lens. It’s light, has a lower aperture and a totally different vibe offering a lot of versatility in my shots between the two lenses. I especially love that the 100mm can also be used as a macro lens!
From there, I am always sure to have my SD and CF Cards with me, I like this brand. I have a great strap from peak design that is comfortable and professional, I love my tiny and mighty SanDisk Portable SSD to back things up on the go and I since my Macbook doesn’t have a port for my cards, I bring along this little SD card reader so I can get photos onto my computer and external!
Bring your camera along on your trips! You will always be glad you did <3
