When the Davide reached out to me they had recently remodeled their restaurant and were launching some new menu items and wanted to get a comprehensive photo shoot of the menu and new ambiance of their space. A fresh menu and a new remodel are the perfect reasons for new branding photography and I was the excited to be a part of helping to create the new visual identity for their business.
During our Connection Call, included in all bookings, I got a better idea of the scope of the project by determining the number of dishes they wanted captured, size of the space and number of employees or people to be included in the shoot. From there we created their final shot list and timeline to be sure our time onsite together would be successful.
Onsite that day I began with shots of the restaurant space where we wanted to capture their beaitfully redesigned dining area and the warm, colorful feel. I spent about an hour in the back with the chefs watching them prep and craft homemade noodles and the did some lifestyle headshots of the rest of the staff. We finally moved into photographing 21 different dishes, all shot from three different angles: top down, 45 degree and 90 degree and a few macro shots. We were aiming to highlight the heart and soul they put into each of their authentic Italian dishes through thoughtful lighting, plating and use of texture to show off each type of noodle, sauce and ingredient!
