There has been a definite uptick in smaller wedding ceremonies and elopements since this pandemic began and I can’t say I’m complaining. These smaller events give me, the couple and the guests the opportunity to really invest all of their time, energy and love into being incredibly present on the big day without all the distractions that come along with planning a much larger gathering.
I’ve had the opportunity to photograph a huge number of elopements and small “micro” weddings in the last two years and I am beyond thankful for each couple that has entrusted me to do so. These smaller groups allows me the time to really get up close and personal during the ceremony, to have some extra time with the couple and to really be sure and capture the individuals that mean the very most to you.
Below are just a small sampling of some of these smaller wedding days and the beautiful people that decided to show their love and commitment to one another despite the craziness of these last few years!

Emily + Nathan: Heather Meadows, Mount Baker Wedding Photographer
Emily and Nathan got married at Heather Meadows in the summertime and many of the people in attendance had traveled from all over the globe to join them on this beautiful Pacific Northwest day. They had fallen in love with this location the previous summer and couldn’t wait to tie the knot overlooking the beautiful mountains and lakes. I had lots of time to spend with just the two of them once the ceremony was over and we hiked down the trail to the glistening lakes for some gorgeous scenery! Working with such a small group gives me the opportunity to spend some great quality time with the couple.
2. Whitney and Keegan: Bellingham Backyard Elopement Photographer
Whitney and Keegan got married on the patio in their backyard in the pouring rain, at night, with the company of three of their very favorite people, champagne, pie, a single canopy and lots of laughs. These two were not at all phased by the weather and were so thrilled to be getting hitched they couldn’t keep the giant grins off their faces. Their calm approach to the evening was so refreshing and I was honored to be a part of such a small and special event.
3. Brian + Kim: Lake Whatcom, Bellingham Wedding Photographer
Brian and Kim tied the knot on some family property right on Lake Whatcom surrounded by a group of 25 of their closest family and friends. It ended up being an absolutely gorgeous day on the lake and their kiddos were thrilled to have the space to run, play and enjoy time with their family, too. Amazing food, local beer and lots of laughs made this evening incredibly special!
4. David + Cherish: Peace Arch Park Elopement Photographer
This sweet couple was in such a predicament in the early pandemic as one of them lived in the United States and the other lived across the border in Canada. The only place they were able to meet up was the Peace Arch Park in Blaine, Wa. This sweet wedding day included her son, his best friend, their adorable dogs, the officiant and myself. I really can’t even put into words how much it means to be part of such a special celebration and these two, amongst all the difficulties they were facing at the time, made the most of this beautiful afternoon together!
5. Brent + Peter: Woodstock Farm, Bellingham Micro-Wedding Photographer
Peter and Brent got married in July at Woodstock Farms with 16 of their closest family and friends. This group immediately made me feel like family and we spent the entire afternoon giggling, playing and enjoying every single moment of this special day together. One of my very favorite locations in all of Whatcom County, this property is absolutely stunning and Brent and Peter’s love made my heart explode.
