Charles and I made our way over to Penticton for the first time to celebrate our nine year wedding anniversary and it was FABULOUS. I had been hearing all sorts of great things about this little town through the grapevine and we finally decided to make it happen. Traveling together has always been one of our favorite things and exploring a new place was the perfect way to celebrate nine years! If you’re thinking of checking out Penticton, just about 5 hours from Bellingham, find some tips on the places we loved most below!
We arrived to town around lunch time and the first thing we had to do was check out Kin + Folk, a modern asian fusion style restaurant, where we sat on the patio and enjoyed their delicious happy hour. This was some of the best food we had on our entire trip and I would highly recommend checking it out if you love asian fusion!
After lunch, we headed over to our first of MANY wineries. The Okanagan Valley is home to a huge number of wineries with the city of Penticton being home to 40! We were all about trying to find wineries with a view and Pentâge Winery fit the bill. 5 stars all around with friendly service, a bit cheaper pricing at a $12 tasting and $6 waived with purchase and the sweetest onsite winery dog.
Below are some of the other wineries we had the chance to check out and a quick breakdown of what we thought of each one. These are just the places we enjoyed! There are a HUGE variety of new and old wineries, so some are better than others!
Liquidity Winery – 5 starts, incredible view and service, $27 tasting not applied to purchase, great service, should make reservations, we got lucky and snuck in. Tasting was the most expensive of any place we tried, but I thought that it was worth the price!
Hillside Winery – 3 stars, not a great view for tasting, $15 tasting does not go towards purchase, our server sucked but others seemed great.
Little Engine Winery– Amazing patio, great service and wine, $25 tasting not applied to purchase. Worth it.
Joie Winery – 4 stars, good wine, liked most all of them, great service and incredible view with a lovely patio, $15 tasting
See Ya Later Ranch Winery, $5 tasting, really relaxed, wine was decent, highest winery in the valley with a cool view but other views were better. Best thing about this spot is that they are VERY dog friendly.
Wild Goose Winery, $5 tasting, great wine and really personable service. A little off the beaten path and no view of the water, but a lovely vineyard and patio!
If you want to try a bunch of wineries without having to drive, check out the awesome District Wine Village just a little bit outside of town. 11 wineries, 1 brewery, 1 distillery, a restaurant and live music! So awesome!
Some of the other really memorable parts of this trip were the Car Show “Peach City Beach Cruise“, walking at Munson Mountain where there is an incredible view of the valley, floating the channel with a door to door driver with Float Penticton, dinner at Poplar Grove which has the most stunning view of any property we went to and walking around at Skaha Lake!
