Award-Winning Bellingham Maternity, Newborn & Milestone Photographer

From Bump to Baby and Beyond

From that very first moment you lay eyes on them, your heart grows two sizes and everything shifts. Pregnancy turns into newborn days, and before you know it, your baby is changing faster than you can keep up with. Most of the time, you don’t even notice it happening.

Then one day, they’re just different. Bigger, more alert, and less tiny than they were before. A version of your baby has already come and gone, and if you didn’t capture it, it’s gone forever. That’s why maternity, newborn, and milestone photography matters so much. Babies grow SO quickly, and photographing these moments gives you something real to look back on when you’re wondering how it all moved so fast.

Hi, I’m Katheryn

I’ve been photographing families and babies for years, and I’ve seen firsthand how quickly those early days move. My approach is rooted in keeping things simple, natural, and enjoyable, so you can focus on being present with your baby.

I photograph maternity, newborn, and milestone sessions in a way that feels flexible and tailored to each family. Whether you’re drawn to lifestyle images at home or a more posed newborn session with props, I’ll help shape an experience that fits your vision and results in bright, beautiful photos you’ll love.

What To Expect

Every session is a little different, because every body, baby, and stage is different. Rather than forcing things into a preset plan, these sessions are designed to work with what’s happening naturally.

When you book a maternity, newborn, or milestone session, here’s what to expect:

Maternity Sessions

Maternity sessions focus on you and the anticipation leading up to your baby’s arrival. Whenever possible, these sessions take place outdoors using natural light, highlighting your baby bump in a way that feels relaxed and flattering. Partners, kids, and even pets are always welcome to join.

Newborn Sessions

Newborn sessions are typically photographed in your home or in a studio space, which I can recommend. There are two options to choose from:

Lifestyle newborn sessions are one hour and focus on natural moments with your baby and family, without props.

Posed newborn sessions are around 3 hours, allowing time for gentle posing and the use of props for classic newborn images.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each session includes thoughtful planning, gentle guidance throughout, and a curated collection of high-resolution digital images delivered in a complimentary online gallery. Session length and location vary depending on the type of session. Maternity and milestone sessions are typically photographed outdoors for the best natural light, while newborn sessions usually take place at home or in a studio space I can recommend. Lifestyle newborn sessions are shorter, while posed newborn sessions allow for additional time to support gentle posing and styling.

As a Bellingham newborn photographer, timing is especially important for posed newborn sessions. Posed newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first 10 days after birth, when babies are still nice and snoozy, less alert, and small enough to comfortably fit into wraps and baskets. This timing helps create those classic, curled-up newborn images.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are more flexible and can take place anytime within the first month. These sessions focus on natural moments with your baby and family and work beautifully even as your baby becomes more awake, curious, and expressive. We’ll choose a timing that feels right for you.

That depends on the type of newborn session you choose. Lifestyle newborn sessions are photographed in a simple, unstyled way, focusing on natural moments with your baby and family, without props or posed setups.

For posed newborn sessions, I do use props, but in a very intentional and minimal way. I offer a curated collection of baby-safe wraps, blankets, baskets, and hats, rather than highly styled or themed setups. This approach keeps the focus on your baby while still allowing for those classic, cozy newborn portraits.

Whether posed or lifestyle, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel timeless and personal, not overly styled or tied to trends, and ones you’ll still love years down the road.

I photograph all sessions using natural light, so choosing a space with good light is key. As a Bellingham maternity, newborn, and milestone photographer, I work with families throughout the area to choose locations that photograph beautifully. Newborn sessions are most often photographed at home, where things feel comfortable and familiar, and we can capture your family in your own space.

Maternity, six-month, and one-year sessions often take place outdoors whenever possible, where natural light really shines. If home or outdoors isn’t the right fit, we can talk through alternate options and I’m always happy to help you decide what will work best.

Absolutely. These sessions are designed to include parents and siblings as part of the story, especially during newborn and milestone sessions. If you’re looking for photos focused more heavily on the entire family or extended family members, I recommend checking out the Family Photography page, which is designed specifically for that experience.

Every session is a little different, but most galleries include approximately 60 to 80 fully edited digital images. Sessions included in The Complete Journey package each receive their own full gallery.

No. Final images are delivered without watermarks and include personal usage rights so you can print, share, and enjoy them.

Yes. Travel within Bellingham and up to 20 miles is included. For sessions outside that range, custom travel quotes are provided, typically at $75 per hour.
