Award-Winning Bellingham Photography Mentoring

Learn Photography Your Way

Whether you’re just getting started or refining your creative business, these one-to-one sessions are designed to meet you exactly where you are, not where you think you should be.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you begin. We’ll focus on what matters most right now, building your understanding step by step. No overwhelm. No jargon. Just practical, hands-on guidance that makes things click and keeps them clicking long after the session ends.

Hi, I’m Katheryn

I’ve been a photographer in Bellingham, WA, since 2010, and somewhere along the way I realised I love teaching this just as much as I love doing it. Photography can feel way more complicated than it needs to be, so my goal is to simplify it and make it fun. I’ll help you understand what you’re doing, why it works, and how to actually repeat it, without the overwhelm or the endless Googling.

What To Expect

I’ll help you make sense of your camera, lighting, and approach so you feel confident every time you pick up your camera. You won’t have to rely on guesswork or scattered tutorials, I’ll guide you step by step in a way that actually clicks.

By working with me, you can expect:

Clear, Practical Guidance

Photography can feel overwhelming when everything is explained in complicated ways. I keep things simple, approachable, and easy to understand so you can actually apply what you’re learning.

Whether it’s camera settings, lighting, or composition, you’ll leave knowing not just what to do, but why it works.

Support That’s Tailored to You

No two sessions are the same. Everything is shaped around your experience level, your goals, and what you’re currently struggling with.

Whether you’re just starting out, refining your style, or improving your business, we focus on what will move you forward, not a generic checklist.

Confidence That Lasts Beyond the Session

The goal isn’t just to improve your photos during the session, it’s to give you the confidence to keep improving on your own.

You’ll walk away with a clearer understanding, practical tools, and the ability to approach your photography with more intention and ease.

Photography Mentorship Sessions

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. Everyone comes in at a different stage, with different questions and goals, so each session is tailored to you.

For Beginners

If you’ve got a camera and a genuine interest in learning photography, but don’t know where to start, this is for you. This isn’t about phone photography, it’s about properly understanding your camera and building real confidence.

We’ll focus on:

• Getting out of auto mode and understanding your settings

• How light works (in a way that actually makes sense)

• Simple composition that improves your photos instantly

•Building confidence so you’re not second-guessing every shot

For Photographers

You already know your way around a camera, but you want your work to feel more refined, consistent, and aligned with your style. This is about taking what you already know and pushing it further, creatively and professionally.

We can focus on:

• Developing a stronger, more recognisable style

• Using light more intentionally (natural or artificial)

• Portfolio review and honest, constructive feedback

• Strengthening the business side — clients, pricing, direction

For Business Owners

If you run a business and need better photos of your products, space, or services, this is for you. Instead of outsourcing everything, you’ll learn how to create professional-looking images yourself in a way that feels simple.

We can focus on:

• Photographing your products clearly and consistently

• Capturing your space or services in a professional way

• Simple lighting setups that don’t require expensive gear

• Creating images that feel aligned with your brand
