There are a few key ingredients that go into every photo session whether it’s a newborn session, family or extended family session, senior portraits or the like! I try to help my clients choose meaningful elements to make your session extra special.
1.People. Yes! You! Naturally, there are going to be people in our session. It’s putting a little extra thought into exactly WHO you’d like to be there and the kinds of combinations that you’ll love that are really important here. I work with individual families as well as large extended family groups and do my very best to get all the varying combinations I can think of. However, if you prepare a list of what shots are most important to you, then we can keep our session running efficiently and give you the best result possible!
2. Places. That’s right- location matters, friends! I’m the first to admit that it’s hard to go wrong choosing a location in the Pacific Northwest, but your session can be just a bit more meaningful if you choose a location that means something special to your group. Maybe there’s a local park you love spending time at or maybe that place you love is your own backyard. Whatever the case, choosing a location that speaks to you will wrap up a whole lot more emotion into your session than I could provide through location referrals! Below you can find the Bliquez family at their new vacation home near Roslyn, the Hudson family on their long-time family owned property on Lummi Island and the Vigeland family at their family vacation home on Guemes Island!
3. Things. You guess it! People, places and things are what make sessions unique and meaningful. Things can include everything from outfits (click here to get tips on what to wear for your session!) to family heirlooms (like the compass for Danny and Henry’s session below!) or simple pieces from around the house that you love and what to incorporate year after year in our sessions together (like the blanket Allison and Jon have been using in sessions since their engagement session!). Whatever the items may be, I am excited to creatively incorporate them into our time together!
