This beautiful wedding took place back in May of 2019 at a few different locations. It’s felt so strange to look back at big weddings like this over the last year, so I’ve been putting blogging events like this on the back burner for some time. Looking through photos of large groups of people feels so foreign, but with the glimmering light slowly showing itself at the end of this dark tunnel, I am excited to share some of the beautiful weddings I had the chance to photograph pre-covid and am looking for to large events like this again in the future <3
This wedding day started out at the lovely Marie Bed and Breakfast where the couple and their wedding party got ready. This charming little house has so many cute details inside and the grounds are full of flowers and manicured gardens- perfect for photos! From here we left and traveled down to the Port Plaza where the couple held their ceremony outdoors on the public boardwalk and plaza area. Once the ceremony ended, the guests walked down the boardwalk to the Harbor House where they could scoop up a few oysters before making it our final destination for the reception. Guests were serenaded by friends of the couple as they walked, and we stopped for the occasional photo opp in the rain!
This entire day was full of heartfelt moments, but the Jump the Broom tradition during the reception was my very favorite. The broom pictured below has been in the family for over 100 years. Each couple within the family that gets married ties a ribbon with their name to the broom before the broom is carefully placed on the ground and they jump over the broom out of their old life and into their new life together. Then couples in attendance are asked to jump the broom to wish the couple luck and happiness in their new life together. Charles and I even join in on the fun! It was such a unique and special tradition to see!
Enjoy and stay tuned for lots more fun weddings to come on the blog soon!
