I love family sessions and I really love when I get to photograph the same family year after year, but in different seasons. Family sessions any time of year in the Pacific Northwest have all their own unique qualities. No matter how many times we’ve worked together or if it’s our first time, I always get the same question: But what should I WEAR!? Fret no more- Keep these simple things in mind and choosing your session outfits will be a breeze!
1. Choose Colors that Compliment One Another!
Choose your base colors (Check out my Pinterest Board for color scheme ideas)! Once you know the overarching 3-4 colors, be sure each outfit includes those colors in some way.
2. Don’t Over-Do the Patterns!
Larger patterns are certainly fun, but it’s a good idea to choose patterns that aren’t too small or intricate. This can sometimes be distracting and take away from the subject- YOU!
3. Think About the Season!
It’s fun to tie your outfits in with the time of year. Accessories like hats and scarves in the winter time, umbrellas and boots in the spring or sun hats in the summer are bring something unique to your photos!
4. BE YOURSELF.
Choose an outfit that makes you feel comfortable, confident and like YOU. It can be tempting to step out of your comfort zone and try something different, but if you feel awkward during the session, it’s easy to tell on camera. Maybe give that outfit a whirl before the big day and be sure it makes you feel awesome.
