Haxan Ferments was back in front of the camera this year after a brand overhaul!! I loved having them in the studio back in 2022 and couldn’t wait to get creative with the new labels and branding colors they’d been working on. Anytime your business goes through a re-brand, particularly when it changes the packaging your customers will see our in the world, it’s the perfect time for an updated photography session!
The Challenge:
We went back and forth of a little while on where to have the session. We’d done our last session in studio, but the client was looking for something a little bit more lifestyle with a “cottage core” type feel. Choosing a location for your session that speaks to your brand and the look you want to achieve is extremely important – you can read more about why on my blog here! We ended up landing on a private home the client had access to that fit the look she wanted and we brought in the props, dishes, textiles and ingredients we needed.
The Project:
We were highlighting the top five most popular products in her collection and wanted to focus on photos that could be used as hero shots on her website, in print marketing and on social media. She requested some light food styling with most of the attention being on the new labels and brand name. So, we started by honing in on the specific flavor profiles and ingredients of each product and then chose simple food pairings that would bring in the opportunity for food styling and lifestyle shots. We created our timeline, shot list and grocery list and we were ready to go!
The Takeaway:
This project took just over two hours and included five different food styling scenes. We were sure to get a variety of vertical and horizontal shots for each scene as well as some more in-action shots that are great for social media. In the end, the client ended up with a total of 74 final images that she’s now using all over her website and socials!
