Some families you photograph once. Others you get to photograph again and again—and that’s when the story really starts to unfold. Getting to photograph this family not just once, but through two maternity seasons and two newborn chapters, has been such a joy. Seeing familiar faces return, watching siblings step into new roles, and documenting how love expands over time is one of my favorite parts of this work. This post shares their story in two parts—because each season deserves its own space.
First Time Around: Becoming Parents
Their first maternity session felt full of anticipation and quiet excitement—the kind that comes with stepping into something completely new. We took our time, let the light do its thing, and focused on celebrating this season of waiting. Everything about this session felt hopeful and tender, with that mix of excitement and nerves that only first-time parents really know.
And then came their newborn session—those early days when time moves both slowly and far too fast. Tiny fingers, sleepy stretches, and the kind of moments that blur together once the days start rolling by. This session was all about easing into parenthood, soaking up those first cuddles, and capturing the beginning of a brand-new family story. Looking back, these images feel like the opening chapter—soft, simple, and full of love.
Second Time Around: An Excited Big Sister!
When they reached out again for maternity photos, it felt so special to be invited back into their lives. This time, the energy was different—in the best way. There was confidence, laughter, and a little one already in tow, excited about what was coming next. Watching a family prepare to grow again is such a beautiful thing, and this maternity session felt like a celebration of how far they had already come.
Their second newborn session was cozy, calm, and full of connection. Big sibling pride, quiet moments between parents, and the natural rhythm of a family settling into life with another little one. These sessions always remind me how much changes—and how much stays the same. The love is deeper, the days are fuller, and the story continues.
