There’s something truly magical about summer in the Pacific Northwest. The sunshine sparkles off the water, the air feels warm and sweet, and every moment outdoors feels a little more special. That’s exactly the vibe we had for this incredible family session out on Lake Whatcom at the Johnson family’s beautiful family property.
From the minute I arrived, I knew this session was going to be full of laughter, snuggles, and genuine connection. The Johnsons are the kind of family who make you feel like you’ve been friends forever. They’re playful, loving, and totally at ease in front of the camera—and that’s exactly what I love about photographing families.
We spent the afternoon hanging out on their dock, soaking up the sunshine and letting the kids simply be themselves. Bare feet, gentle breezes, and that sparkling water as the backdrop—there’s nothing better! The kids were full of giggles, cuddles, and sweet moments with Mom and Dad, and those authentic interactions are what make sessions like these so special.
One of my favorite things about photographing families is how much it feels like just hanging out rather than posing for photos. It’s relaxed, fun, and real. I’m there to document your connections, the way you look at each other, the inside jokes, and those little gestures that mean the world. It’s not about perfect poses—it’s about telling your story.
If you’re dreaming of your own family session that feels true to who you are, whether it’s on your family property, your favorite Bellingham park, or even your cozy home, I’d love to help capture those memories. Let’s hang out, make some magic, and create photos that will make you smile for years to come!
